1,000,000 Buffalo Bicycles distributed worldwide.

This year, our friends at World Bicycle Relief reached an incredible milestone:

1,000,000 Buffalo Bicycles distributed worldwide.

For the cycling community, that’s a powerful reminder that a bicycle is far more than a piece of equipment. In many parts of the world, it’s a lifeline.

Those one million bicycles have helped change the lives of more than five million people, connecting communities with education, healthcare and economic opportunity.

Since 2005 alone, over 304,000 students have received Buffalo Bicycles, giving them a safe and reliable way to reach school.

Students like Scholastica in Kenya.

Before receiving her bicycle, Scholastica walked 7 km to school every day, often arriving late and feeling unsafe along the way. When she received a Buffalo Bicycle in 2015, that changed.

“With the bicycle, it's hard for boys to flag me down. I'm not scared anymore. The bicycle has boosted my confidence.”

— Scholastica, Student, Kenya

With a bicycle, students can save around an hour of travel time every day. Over the past 20 years, that’s added up to over 200 million additional classroom hours.

As riders, we all know the freedom a bike can bring. Through the work of World Bicycle Relief, that same freedom is helping transform lives around the world.

Reaching one million bicycles isn’t the finish line, it’s momentum.

And we’re proud to be part of the movement.
